saturday april.21.2007 Earth Honoring Hike and Ceremony in Zoar Valley where: Zoar Valley. when: April 21, 2007 12:30 pm Please join us as we honor the Earth in one of our bio-regions most spectacular places---Zoar Valley. We will come together to enjoy the natural beauty and majestic cliffs of Zoar and there we will offer our heart's song and prayers to the earth and remember those who dedicated their lives to protect it. The earth has never needed our lovingkindness and nurturing more than she does now. On the eve of Earth Day we invite you to take this time to reflect, remember and engage your sacred connection to nature and all life. When: Meet at 12:30 pm, at the Valentines Flats parking space. If you are coming from Buffalo and want to carpool meet at 11 am at Delaware Park across from the Art Gallery. What to bring: A lunch, camera, clothing suited for the weather, a song, prayer or something to offer the earth. This could be a rock, crystal, incense or a flower to place on the Earth Altar. What we will do: Take a mindful hike into Zoar and observe her beautiful vistas, hike up the pyramid, cross the Cattaragus Creek together (be prepared to get wet or go barefoot across the creek) and make a Tree Circle around one of Zoar's ancient tulip trees. We will spend some time constructing an Earth Altar near the confluence for our ceremony. This will be a wonderful opportunity to honor the legacy and memory of Bruce Kershner, who was one of our greastest naturalists and eco-warriors. Please forward this to all who may be inspired to come Please write/call your U.S. Senators and ask them to support the Sanders/Boxer bill that is in the senate right now. It is the best Global Warming bill in the senate and the only one that is actually effective. Also, write/call your U.S. Representative and urge them to support the Waxman bill in the house which is very similar to the Sanders/Boxer bill in the Senate. Riverside Salem & St. Joe’s Sunday, April 22, @ 2:00pm Seneca Indian Park (Seneca St. & Indian Church) A white pine will be planted Other trees will be sold for $2.00 A big variety There will be a “blog” available to talk about your tree: where you planted, when, how it is doing, etc. (www.earthcarecov.blogspot.com) Other tree plantings will be available at other times. There will be musical presentations and “Native American “ drumming. There will be food. In case of bad weather, there is a nearby UCC Church for inside activities. There will be a ceremony with readings from a variety of sources. Pass this information onto people you think might be interested.

Come stand with us and say no to more death and destruction in a weekly silent vigil. the Lizzard Ball What: Lizzard Ball 2007 Where: Dnipro Cultural Center when: 7pm until late     The Lizzard Ball is a happnin party. It's been goin on here in Buffalo, New York for several decades now. Y'see. Way back in the year 1977 there was this HUGE Blizzard here in Buffalo. They even made a board game out of it. It was on the news a lot. But the people in Buffalo wanted to show the world that they were undaunted. So they decided to have a big party to celebrate the Blizzard. It was called the Blizzard Ball and it was a big deal galla event with men in black ties and tuxedos and all of that crappity crap. And it cost a LOT of money to go to it. So there were a bunch of activists and progressive types who felt like they wanted to have a party too. But mostly they didn't own suits and evening gowns. So they made a different party. This party was called the LIZZARD BALL. And you could dress however the hell you felt like and still go to it. And it was a lot cheaper too. Now it is thirty years later. People still remember the Blizzard Ball, but it's a distant and fading memory. The LIZZARD BALL, on the other hand, is still going strong and it is going to be one crazy groove with all kinds of really awesome music and information on how to get hooked up with all kinds of cool progressive causes and lots of party people in the place to be (dressed in comfortable clothes). This Years Lizzard Ball will feature My Rap Name is Alex and the Bloodthirsty Vegans, MC Vendetta, somthingreen, Marisa Sutton, Lara Buckley and the poetry of Liz Mariani.
